S.T.Y.L.E – Showing Teens Why Literacy Exceeds
S.T.Y.L.E – Showing . Teens . Why . Literacy . Exceeds is an organization dedicated to the education and mentorship of teenage girls through literacy.
About Us
The S.T.Y.L.E organization is a group of volunteers dedicated to educating and mentoring teenage girls through literacy. We tackle the challenges faced by coming of age teenage girls in a new media influenced millennial generation. With literacy levels nationally dropping we are passionate about our mission to aid our members with the skills to comprehend various literature.
As literacy advocates we encourage and teach how literal skills help prepare young teenagers to be responsible and contributing members of their communities. Our program also helps prepare girls for college by working on their public speaking skills, grammar, spelling, pronunciation and punctuation.
At every session our members are assigned themed literature that is then discussed and analyzed to help associate the reading with their own personal life experiences. The sessions are all segmented and all age appropriately scheduled. We want to show how fun literacy can be and how it affects all aspects of your life.
The Members
Members can expect to make longtime friends and future beneficial contacts with highly qualified volunteers. We provide all resources and literature as well as a fun filled learning environment. Field trips and guest speakers provide real life experiences and examples of how literature creates opportunity. Members will also gain from our partners and sponsors through access to various resources like reading kindles, literature and free tutoring just to mention a few.
The Volunteers
Our volunteers are all very passionate about our mission and all highly qualified in their respective career fields. The majority of our volunteers are parents with their own children involved in the program.
